Between February 27th and 29th Dr John Hindmarch instructed students of Digital Technologies in Heritage Conservation in 3D-scanning objects. This project enabled students to handle and investigate medieval objects of bronze and ceramic. The accurate scans can provide information on production processes, surface treatment and make decoration better recognisable. Experimenting with different textures can help analysing or even reconstruct motifs. A 3D-Scan is also an ideal condiderate possibility for research; the object can be magnified and viewed from all sides without handling.
From the 5th to the 9th of July 2021 students of the monumental heritage sciences at the University of Bamberg completed a practical week on the premises of the museum. Under the guidance of Dr. Dr.-Ing. Dipl. Holzwirt Thomas Eißing, they were able to put their knowledge into practice. Samples from the historic beams were used to determine the age of the wood in the dendrochronology laboratory. We would like to thank you very much for providing us with the results of your research into the history of the house.

Students of Islamic art history, archaeology and related subjects have the opportunity to complete an internship. Working 2-3 days a week, you can experience and shape all aspects of museum operations.
After a rally through the rooms in search of the most fabulous creature, the pupils let their imaginations run wild as they create their own mythical creatures.
