The inscription in raised naskhi is set in a frame reminiscent of a prayer niche. The deceased is named as the son of a well-known scholar. The father’s name is emphasized by the central position at the narrowing of the frame.

hādhā qabr al-marḥūm al-naʿīm
al-faqīh al-qārī Abū ʿAbdallāh
Muḥammad ibn al-shaykh al-fāḍil
Al-khaṭīb al-murshid al-ʿāmil
Abī ʿAbdallāh Muḥammad tuwuffiya yawm al-sabt
li-tisʿa layāli khallat min shahr dhī l-ḥijja al-ḥarām
mukhtatam shuhūr sanna thalāth wa-sabʿmiyya [sic] wa-alf li-l-hijra

This is the grave of the deceased, blessed,
the law teacher Abu Abdallah
Muhammad, son of the revered sheikh,
of the rightly guided and active preacher
Abu Abdallah Muhammad, he passed away on Saturday
the ninth night of Dhu l-Hijja,
the last of the months of the year, in the year 1073 of the Hijrah
